Google India launches #PledgetoVote with the India’s First Voter Shyam Saran Negi, 97yrs old and he voted in every election of Republic India since 1951.
When India’s first general elections were held in 1952, an exception was made for Mr. Negi’s hometown of Kinnaur in Himachal Prasesh, where, due to the anticipation of heavy snowfall, elections were held in October 1951 — when Mr. Negi cast his first vote. Since then, he has voted in every single election.
The spot works alongside Google’s comprehensive Election hub, where you can pledgetovote (and hover over a map to see what others across the country are pledging.) You can also check out search trends to see which political figures have the highest votes, and join a hangouts series with ministers, activists, and more.
