If you have applied for an Initial Public Offer IPO using UPI Payment mode often you will get this SMS message which says UPI Mandate Could Not Be Cancelled Due to UM9 this is because you have not alloted any securities or IPO is not allotted to you, if IPO is not allotted your Mandate should be auto cancelled but sometimes due to a technical error at banks or UPI you will get this UM9 Error SMS, see below what to do be done for Due to UM9 and get your money unblocked.
UPI Mandate Could Not Be Cancelled Due to UM9
The SMS message UPI Mandate Could Not Be Cancelled Due to UM9 means your money is not auto released by the bank it could be an error at bank, UPI App or registrar of the IPO.
Generally, the Money will be blocked in your account till the finalization of IPO allotment, post which the amount equivalent to allotted shares would be debited and the balance amount will be unblocked automatically.
But Don’t worry the bank will release the money automatically the next day, generally, the bank will process at least twice for the failed Mandates.
If you didn’t receive the money in your bank account within 2 days of the message you can always contact your Bank customer care, UPI App Customer or IPO register just write an email to NPCI at ipo.upi@npci.org.in with your application number.

How to Fix UPI Mandate Could Not Be Cancelled Due to UM9
See, I have applied for Tatva Chintan IPO and I got below SMS saying
HDFC Bank: UPI-Mandate for Rs 14079.00 could not be cancelled due to UM9.
In your UPI App, Go to Mandate section and Now look for the Start Date and End Date of the Mandate for that IPO
For example, for Tatva Chintan the Start Date is 16th July 2021 and End date is 5th August 2021 see below image.
So on 5th August 2021 the Mandate will End automatically and your money will be unblocked in your Bank account.
You can check bank statement on the date to see your funds in your account.
Hope this helps! Please read the Note.
Note: This UPI Mandate UM9 Error Code issue has happened to me at least 3-4 times since a year and every time it has been resolved the next day only, which means the money is unblocked next only. But in one IPO it took almost 3 weeks 21 days to release the amount which is the End Date of IPO Mandate.
